3 Jan 2010 : A Discovery!
Here is a painting done by my granddad in 1943 or 1944 on the web. This painting is earlier than anything the Foundation owns and we are very happy to see this painting. The details are not too clear nor is the year that will determine which time he was actually in Guilin.
We are not sure who owns this and the inscription does not give us too many clues either, the quality of the image is also not great and we can't make out what the girl by the gate is nor what the inscription on the gate is.... yet.
We figured out that my granddad must have zipped from Guiyang to Kunming in 1943 and 1944, he's not quite supposed to be there according to our time lines of his travel. The inscription also has a few other clues, it was written for a tribal chief named Hu Zhonghua who was successful in driving the British out of their area as the British wanted the minerals in the land.
