May 1934 Niu Bizi
Niu Bizi begins to appear regularly in Xinwen Bao.
One account of why Niu Bizi was created was the popularity of cartoon strips. When Xinwen Bao found out that Huang Yao could paint, they asked him to do a cartoon strip.
Niu Bizi appear after Ye Qianyu’s, “Mr. Wang”, but about a year before Zhang Leping’s “Sanmao”, Liang Baibo’s, “Miss Bee” and Gao Longsheng’s, “Ah Dou”.
