September 1942: Huang Yao Seals engraved by Xie Meinu
Mei Nu (1911-‐1991), famous seal engraver, engraved for both Mao Zedong and Jiang Jieshi. He was friend to Qi Baishi and Xu Beihong. In our records, Xie Meinu had engraved 2 seals for Huang Yao.

Niubizi is a strange man. He was the star during the epoch of the Shanghai cartoons and worked at the newspaper, Xinwen Bao. Who did not know about the cartoonist of the "Niubizi" cartoon series? But who is this cartoonist and what is his true identity? I think what an artist has in his heart will certainly be reflected in his work, thus making his work a direct reflection of himself. My image of Niubizi is a person with a rounded face, a fat physique and may not necessarily be tall.
May 1956: Malaya Niubizi
Huang Yao once more used his most famous character as a channel for his own thoughts and experiences, creating Malaya Niubizi. In this series Niubizi wears a sarong, works with the local people, picks coconuts, collects harvests and reins bullocks to pull carts.

In 1956, Huang Yao was invited to Malaya (now called Malaysia) by the education minister, Tun Abdul Razak (who later became Prime Minister), to help shape the country’s adult education policies.
